Ahhh yes, and here they are! The worst thing I tasted in Istanbul. Roasted chestnuts in all of their spongy, tasteless glory...


Maybe we just had some bad chestnuts?

No; they are atrocious, even done well. Chestnuts baked into shortbread cookies, though? Worth it. Well, no, not worth baking yourself. Worth buying. Or befriending someone who doesn't mind 2 hours of skin-burning, nail-breaking agony to shell them.
