"Freeze possum punk!"

Caught red-handed (or red-eyed I should say), this one...

Part 37 of this adventure? Spotlighting for possums climbing high in the forest canopy up on the Tablelands. Spotlighting, of course, is also just as it sounds. You get a giant spotlight and scan the trees until you catch a flash of red nestled in the branches. It's like hide-and-seek for naturalists!

Spotlighting, also known as "Spotting" to the North American Redneck, Hillbilly, Trailer Trash, is an event closely guarded by many with few teeth and too much time on their hands. Most common tools are a high powered spotlight, capable of running off of a car battery, an off-road vehicle or 1992 Chevy Cavalier, a six pack of Steele Reserve, and acres upon acres of deer and boredom. A most experienced spotter is known for having the ability to multitask by both spotting for Deer and using time to make passes on attractive second-cousins.
