Oh what's that? You NEVER finish hula-hooping? I suppose that's explanation enough.

Bonnaroo/What Stage/6.11.11

Bright and shiny, bright and shiny.

A horse toy with a bunch of glow sticks taped to it and a ferris wheel. Looks like a music festival to me.

You see that dust cloud looming over the resilient Bonnaroo patrons? Not only does it look cool as the sun is descending, but it makes for a very sexy evening cough.

Evan: You fell asleep, didn't you?

Me: Haha, yes.

Not going to lie, kids... Arcade Fire just doesn't do it for me. It was pretty cool to watch them from the FoH platform, but I did nod off for a song or two.

Arcade Fire/What Stage/Bonnaroo/Manchester, TN/6.10.11

Rounding out our day of photoging at the centerpiece of Nashville's Centennial Park, Ben and I were plum near exhausted, but still needed to make this trip. Now home to one of Nashville's largest art museums, this replica of the Parthenon in Athens was built in 1897 honoring Nashville's Centennial.

Next stop? Ben's couch to catch a little snooze before heading back to Nashville's airport to hop my shuttle that afternoon to Manchester, Tennessee for the one and only Bonnaroo!

Opryland Hotel/Nashville, TN/6.7.11

The last time I was in Nashville, I was with my family driving to see my grandparents, who at the time, resided in Pensacola, Florida. I believe we only stayed at the Opryland Hotel for a night on our way south, but I do remember my mom being excited to stay there.

Because I was little then, I asked Ben if we could make a return trip to this hotel - just to wander around and shoot a little bit. Despite the absurd $18 parking fee (that we refused to pay), we had a wonderful time strolling through the various atriums, photoging our little hearts out.

Monument of a Confederate soldier in Franklin, Tennessee. The statue was erected in 1899 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, a national society of female lineal descendants of Confederate soldiers founded in 1894, to honor those who fought in the Battle of Franklin on November 30, 1864.

Bicentennial Mall State Park/Nashville, TN/6.7.11

After we dropped my bags at Ben's place just outside of Nashville, we needed to decide where our 24-hour photo/food/fun adventure would begin. Being Brad Paisley's tour photographer, Ben was more than game to put up with my silly photography antics. Right around the corner from his humble abode sits a large plantation that Ben had really never explored called the Belle Meade Plantation. Hearing they had horses, history and wine, of course this looked like a fantastic starting point to me.

How cool is it that the bloodline of many champion horses can be traced back to this plantation? To name only a few, some of the champs include Bonnie Scotland (a resident horse), Secretariat, Seabiscuit, War Admiral and Barbaro.

This modern love is not enough...

Originally, I had a three-day gig booked in New York for the third week of May, but when my dear friend and colleague Ayappa called to see if I could shoot Matt Nathanson's industry listening party for his new album, Modern Love, on a rooftop on Fifth Avenue, I quickly replaced myself on the old gig and cleared my schedule for the new. I was super stoked to see both Ayappa and Matt again annnnd to shoot on a rooftop, so I was bummed to hear that, due to rain, we were going to be moved inside the EMI offices for the event.

But despite the weather, Matt and Ayappa were just lovely as always.

So this is Summer Jam. Good ol' Summer Jam. Lived in Jersey for a great 5 days. On the eve of the 5th day, Monday, I was done, went home, did laundry, repacked a bag and flew to Nashville at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

I find it strange that the sunsets around New Meadowlands Stadium are always so gorgeous. Though I've heard that the color of the sunsets are directly related to the number of the pollutants in the air... so, perhaps it does make sense.
